Living in Bulgaria

I am currently ploughing through the questions that are being asked and hope to give an accurate personal view to answer the emails I am receiving. Please bear with me as I enlarge this section and if you wish to ask a question, or to post a point of view you may email them here suzi@luvitsa.com

Q - Is Bulgaria a cheap place to live in
A - Currently Bulgaria is experiencing very cheap prices, although it is now a member of the EU and, as I noticed in Greece, that usually means prices will rise steeply and sharp.

Q - Is it easy to buy a house?
A - Yes, this is a simple and relatively fast procedure, assuming the seller is currently living in Bulgaria. There are things that are required by Bulgarian law, such as being the owner of a Bulgarian business in order to buy the land the house sits on, this does not apply to studios and apartments, you can read the forum for further insight into this aspect

Q - Is my car likely to be stolen
A - This question has appeared many times, personally I recommend a very good alarm system if you are bringing your car from the UK to Bulgaria and take the normal precautions you would in any other country.

Q - How is the Weather in Bulgaria
A - Again a popular question!
From what I have noticed, Bulgaria enjoys four distinct seasons. You know which one you are in! The winter of 2007/2008 brought so much snow that the country almost came to a grinding halt! Although snow chain road signs are put in place and they do grit the main roads, the snow was far too much to cope with and moving around was only achievable if you owned a tractor!
The summer of 2007 was a scorcher, long hot sunny days, although the evenings do cool down.
Spring 2008 has just sprung into action, calm warm sunny days, quite chilly evenings, spring rains refil the rivers and lakes of which there are many here in Bulgaria! So be warned if you wish to live near the water!
